L’Heureux Hasard, near Blois: ‘A Perfect Little Campsite with a Big Heart’

If you want to get in on the new trend for ‘slow’ tourism, set your sights on L'Heureux Hasard, a small, quiet and super-friendly campsite just 20 min. south of Blois, in the heart of the beautiful Sologne countryside and close to all the major Loire Valley châteaux.
This ‘back to the basics’ campsite is unlike any others. No electricity, no Wifi (except in the reception area), so tune out and experience the simple pleasures of life: telling stories around the campfire, marveling at the sunset, gazing at the stars, waking to sound of birdsong and, above all, enjoying that precious downtime to reconnect with family and friends.
There are few pitches for diehard DYI campers, but what makes l’Heureux Hasard really special is its funky range of accommodation options. Take your pick between a gypsy caravan for a ‘vie de bohème’; a simple but comfortable chalet like the region’s traditional ‘woodcutter cabins’; a roomy canvas and wood trapper tent; or get this: a ‘ready to camp Kit’, ideal for cyclists or hikers who want to travel light. A great idea for all those who to love to camp but hate the hassle!
The campsite offers a host of little extras to make life easier: fresh bread and croissants delivered every morning; breakfast and picnic baskets or caterer meal trays. And there’s Le Chalet d’Ossyane, a central meeting point with a big kitchen and table where you can sit and chat with your fellow campers or listen to music in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
There’s also an end-of-stay cleaning included in the price and free parking: no cars allowed on the campsite, but you can have a wheelbarrow or a donkey to help carry your luggage!
Trek through the peaceful Sologne countryside at a donkey’s pace (3 km/hour) or hop on a bike and travel along the ‘La Loire à Velo’ cycling trails to explore the hidden treasures of the Loire. Donkey and bike rentals available onsite.
