Huttopia: In the Woods – and In the Mood - for Love
The Huttopia Rillé campsite is located in an idyllic setting 40 min. west of Tours. Woods and fields surround the 8-hectare site, and a large heated swimming pool overlooks the lake: a veritable paradise for nature lovers!
Huttopia has all the amenities of any top-notch traditional campground: water sports centre, café-bistro and terrace, game room and library. There’s also bike rental on site, and lots of sign-posted cycling routes in the area.
But what makes this campsite truly special is its wide range of accommodation options, which run from standard pitches to roomy, fully equipped wood cabins. And for those who want to live Robinson Crusoe-style, there’s the ‘Cahutte’, an intriguing mix of a ground floor wood cabin and rooftop tent. Or the Trapper tent, where you can sleep under the stars with a canvas roof over your head, yet enjoy the comforts of a good bed, private bathroom and the warmth of wood stove.
Also of note: Lake Rillé is a well-known bird sanctuary, home to more than 250 species. You can take guided tours around the lake with experts in July and August, or simply venture out in canoe in the early morning or at nightfall to try some bird spotting on your own.
