New opening hours

Important news from Saumur: the famous château is extending its public opening hours, so visitors now have a wider choice of times in which to visit!

This year, the Château of Saumur will open its doors on 8 February and will be remain open during times when it was previously closed! Until 31 March and from 1 October to 31 December you can visit the precious collections from Tuesday to Sunday from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5.30pm. From1 April to 30 June and from 1 September to 30 September, the château will be open non-stop from Tuesday to Sunday and on Mondays on public holidays from 10am to 6pm. During the summer season, from 1 July to 31 August, it will be open 7 days a week from 10am to 7pm. These new opening hours give visitors more time to discover the heritage exhibited in the city museum, including the finest earthenware collection in France and ancient tapestries, some of which date from the 15th century. Horse riding enthusiasts can spend time admiring the collection of exhibits on display in connection with equestrian history across the world, with objects dating from as early as Antiquity.
