This is when the cathedral and a dozen or so of the city’s landmarks are transformed by images projected onto their façades, bringing the magic of Christmas to life. Chartres Christmas market takes place from 6 to 24 December. Here, you can wander through the stalls and find THE gift that is sure to delight! Whether you are looking for jewellery, decorations or a chance to sample food and drink in a welcoming, festive atmosphere, you will be spoilt for choice!
   

A special evening event on Saturday 16 December will give everyone the chance to enjoy the illuminations late into the night.

Chartres en lumières – Chartres in lights

Come and marvel at illuminated Chartres! Every evening and until the 5 January 2025, the city’s iconic landmarks will be brought to life as night falls. Plan your own route around the city centre and enjoy the colourful illuminations at your own pace.

Admire the half-timbered houses, cross bridges and footbridges over the Eure and marvel at the mills and wash houses lining the river.
