Description
The castle of La Motte-Feuilly is remarkable for its historical trees such as its millenary yew tree under which Joan of Arc would have slept, its alignment of Tulip trees of Virginia which date from before the Revolution, its Gingko Biloba and other centenary trees, its French-style flowered vegetable garden laid out in the 19th century and its sanctuary for farm animals. The castle of La Motte-Feuilly, whose name dates back to the 11th century, when these lands belonged to the powerful regional lord, Roger Palestel, was built in the 14th and 15th centuries. It is remarkable for its two imposing towers, the keep of 1410 with its wooden hourd and the porch tower of 1415 with its stone machicolation. The chapel of the castle was built by Charlotte d'Albret after the death of Caesar Borgia.
