Eglise Saint-Valentin

The church, which bears the name of the patron saint of lovers, depended on the abbey of Notre-Dame d'Issoudun as early as 1154.
Description
In 1849, the municipality of Saint-Valentin acquired the building, which had been transformed into an agricultural building in the meantime, and which had been attached to the parish of Lizeray since 1816. Major modifications were undertaken: reconstruction and enlargement of the choir (the flat chevet was replaced by an apse in the cul-de-four), enlargement of the windows, construction of a new bell tower and acquisition of a bell whose godmother was Hortense Thayer, daughter of General Bertrand. These modifications have not lost the Romanesque character of the church, which has kept its semicircular door with capitals decorated with hooks, as well as the curious modillions on the cornices, one of which represents an elongated piglet.
