15th & 16th centuries. The interior of Montrésor Castle is the authentic testimony of the Second Empire. Cardinal Fesch’s collection of Italian primitive paintings.
Description
The treasure of this distinctive town, the Montrésor castle presents a dual face: the imposing vestiges of the 11th century fortress, built by Foulques Nerra, and the Renaissance castle with its main wing overlooking the Indrois. Surrounded by a romantic park, this private, inhabited castle houses a collection of primitive Italian paintings. Its interior is a marvellous testament to the Second empire style.
