Description
It was on 28 March 1575 that François Lambert, equerry and counsellor to the king, auditor in his chamber of accounts, bought the land of Cambray from D'Oinville, Lord of Puiset. On the left is the old castle dating from the 15th century. The central part in stone and cut stone for the corner pillars, was built under Louis XIV, between 1650 and 1700. The two wings were built shortly afterwards. On the right, the chapel was started in 1805 and is dedicated to Saint Charles Borromeo. It was during the 20th century that the two octagonal towers were added, while the outbuildings were built by Charles de Cambray in 1901. The formal gardens were designed like a sundial. In the centre is one of the sources of the Conie.
