Conference on the theme of Adventure by Olivier Mignon, guide and author.
Plymouth, August 8, 1914.
Three years after Roald Amundsen’s conquest of the South Pole, Irish explorer Ernest Shackleton leaves England aboard the Endurance.
His goal: to cross Antarctica by dog sled. In January 1915, the ship became trapped in the ice. A few months later, the Endurance was completely crushed by the pack ice. Shackleton and his men found themselves on the ice at minus 25 degrees in one of the world’s most inhospitable regions.
To this day, the Endurance expedition’s rescue remains the most incredible story of polar survival.
