" Le dernier voyage : passer de vie à trépas du Moyen-Âge à nos jours"

The Thursday 12 December at 08 a.m30
Rue J.M. Heurthault de Lammerville 18000 BOURGES
According to George Sand, "oblivion is the true shroud of the dead", but can archives be considered a passport to eternity? Is archiving limited solely to justifying rights and providing historians with sources?
The exhibition Le dernier voyage: passer de vie à trépas (The last journey: from life to death), from the Middle Ages to the present day, aims to highlight the profound links between archives and notions of death and survival. By following the various stages of a journey – preparing, leaving, keeping in touch – it aims to illustrate the diversity of documents relating to death, the evolution of mentalities towards death and the transformations of funeral rites, particularly in the Berry region.
