Conférence UPOP – "1903 : Premier tour de France, premiers forçats de la route"
The Wednesday 14 May
Rue de la Grenouille 36200 ARGENTON-SUR-CREUSE
The Université Populaire d'Argenton-sur-Creuse is organizing a conference on the theme: "1903: first Tour de France, first forçais de la route", hosted by Gérard Miard, a retired France Télécom executive and former competitor with a passion for cycling.
1903: L'Auto newspaper launches "the greatest cycling event ever organized". From its very first edition, the Tour de France was a magical event, attracting young and old to its paved and unpaved roads. The epic of the first road warriors began, heralding the long cohort of exceptional cyclists who have continued to give their letters of nobility to this unique worldwide sporting event ever since… And which inspired the creation of national tours, notably in Italy (the Giro) and Spain (the Vuelta)…
