LE CHER CANALISÉ lecture by guide Anna Brisson. An imperial decree in 1807 stated: "The Cher will be made navigable along its present course by means of one or more diversions from Montluçon to its mouth in the Loire". A series of mobile dams, known as "needle dams", improved the river?s navigability. Come and discover the surprising history of these engineering structures! Presentation of the exhibition "Histoire et mémoire de Montlouis et ses environs" from the Archives Départementales d?Indre-et-Loire. Presented by Pays d?art et d?histoire Loire Touraine. Reservations recommended.
